For more than 20 years, I worked in marketing, leading teams, building businesses and eventually running my own design agency. From the outside, things looked pretty successful. On the inside, I became what I now describe as miserably successful. Busy. Achieving. Earning. Doing all the things I thought I was supposed to be doing but increasingly disconnected from myself, what mattered to me and where I was heading. I had lost perspective. And, looking back, that experience sits at the heart of The Outspire. ### Stepping outside changed something Nature has always been important to me. It’s where I feel most myself. Where the noise quietens, my perspective widens, and I can see things that somehow aren't as obvious within four walls. Walking became more than something I enjoyed. It became a way of thinking. Over time, I began bringing coaching conversations outside too. Something shifted. People talked differently. We noticed more. Silence became easier. Difficult conversations felt less difficult. Problems that seemed enormous sometimes became smaller when placed against a bigger horizon. I realised nature wasn't an escape from the realities of leadership. It was a powerful place from which to face them. And so The Outspire was born. ### Leadership is human first I trained as a coach more than 20 years ago and have spent the past 12 working full-time alongside founders, CEOs, senior leaders and teams navigating growth, change, uncertainty and the very human reality of leadership. My daughter Scarlett and her special world have probably taught me as much about being human as anyone, particularly about presence, patience, connection and the importance of being where your feet are. Those lessons find their way into my work. Because behind the job title, targets, and expectations is a person. Someone who doesn't always have the answer. Someone who sometimes needs to say what they can't say elsewhere. Someone who can be successful and still wonder: Is this really where I want to be? My role isn't to give you or your teams the answers. It's to walk alongside you, listen carefully, ask the candid questions others might not, challenge you when it matters and help you find your own clearer way forward. Often, we do that outside.
