THE OUTPOST

10.25

Welcome to October,

October is a month of change and the perfect time to step outside.

The first thing I love to notice?

🍂 The turning leaves
🍄 Fungi
🐦‍⬛ Migrating birds
🐿️ Squirrels

And here’s a fact worth holding onto: studies show that just 20 minutes of walking in nature lowers stress hormones, boosts mood, and improves focus. Good for mind, body, and soul.

This October, step into your OUTBOX, notice the details, and let nature’s changes guide your own.

Reconnection is the hidden key to great leadership

Leadership often demands that we keep moving, from one decision to the next, from team needs to business targets. But in the rush, many leaders lose sight of something vital: themselves.

At The Outspire, we believe you can’t lead others clearly if you’re disconnected from your own purpose, values, and energy. True, sustainable leadership begins with reconnection.

When you pause long enough to ask “Is this aligned with who I am and what I want to create?” everything changes. Decisions gain clarity. Presence deepens. Influence grows, not from titles or pressure, but from the quiet confidence of knowing who you are and why you lead.

That’s why I coach outdoors. Nature has a way of bringing leaders back to what matters. Among the trees, breathing fresh air, the noise softens and perspective expands. Small moments of realignment create space for bigger vision, bigger opportunities, and bigger impact.

It takes courage to connect, make yourself a priority and value your time.

Reconnection isn’t a luxury. It’s the foundation of great leadership. 🌳

Would love to know your thoughts, get in touch.

Cyber security isn’t just about firewalls and technology, it’s about people, continuity, and trust. 🌤️

Join me for a sessions 2 and 3 of a 3-part webinar series with Bharat Gorsia (Simultech IT Limited), exploring how leaders can strengthen their defences where it matters most. I’ll be your host, bringing curiosity and clarity to the conversation.

  • 15th October – Resilience Tested: Protecting Business Continuity Under Attack
  • 29th October – From Regulation to Reputation: Protecting What Counts

⏰ Time: 11:00am (30 minutes + 15 min Q&A)

🌳 Why I’m excited to host

🌲 In nature, resilience is rarely about strength alone, it’s about networks. Mycelium threads connect trees beneath the forest floor, sharing warnings, nutrients, and protection.

When the network is healthy, the forest thrives; when it’s weak, the whole system is at risk.

It’s the same in business. 🐝 People can be the hidden weakness that lets risk spread or the strongest defence that builds resilience. That’s why this conversation matters.

This September, I co-piloted a new retreat with two inspiring coaches, Katy and Richard, in the Yorkshire Dales: Anchored in the Dales.

The feedback has been great, centred around it being a powerful few days filled with deep insights, perspective shifts, and moments of clarity that translated into focused, aligned action.

To be anchored is to feel steady, clear, and connected even when the world around us is shifting. For many, leadership and life can feel like constant motion pulled by demands, noise, or uncertainty. In the stillness of the Dales, participants found the rare space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most: their values, vision, and presence.

The retreat design wove together:

  • The Outspire ethos — vision in the fog, calm in the chaos, connection where it counts
  • Richard Marshall’s depth as a business psychologist and executive coach brings practical insight into leadership impact as well as outstanding hosting and culinary delights.
  • Katy Murray’s a gift for creating space where openness, reflection, and genuine connection naturally flourish.
  • Our collective coaching approach is candid and compassionate, grounding conversations in the clarity of the outdoors.

The participants had the courage to let go of their day-to-day and step into the retreat with us, walking the paths of the Dales to open new perspectives both on the horizon and within. Conversations with peers sparked fresh insights, helping each participant see their challenges and opportunities with renewed clarity.

The feedback was clear: Anchored in the Dales was a high-impact experience offering space to reset, to connect with a bigger plan, and to leave lighter yet more grounded.

Next Opportunity We go live again 16–18 November and still have a few places available. If you’re interested or if you know a colleague or friend who would benefit from time out in nature to reconnect and realign now is the time to step in.

Looking further ahead, four more retreats are planned for 2026.

Because when we anchor ourselves to our values, our vision, and our presence we create the steadiness to weather the storms, and the clarity to move forward with courage.

Why coaching outdoors?

Leadership today isn’t just about managing teams or delivering results. It’s about vision, influence, and the ability to create meaningful impact in a complex, fast-changing world. Too often, leaders hit a ceiling, working harder but not seeing the growth or clarity they want.

on,

Benefits of working outside,

  • Think with a Bigger Vision. Expanding your perspective to focus on long-term goals and lasting impact.

  • Lead in a Bigger Context. Understanding the wider systems, culture, and environment that shape your influence.

  • Create Bigger Opportunities. Spotting openings for growth, innovation, and influence that others may miss.

Mother Nature is metaphorically rich to help us process our thinkingbecome bett
